The UAE, represented by the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank, participated in the third G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting, held under South Africa’s 2025 G20 Presidency in Durban. The event gathered representatives from member countries, invited states, and international organizations.
The UAE delegation was led by H.E. Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, and included senior officials from the Ministry and the Central Bank.
The meeting reviewed progress on the 2025 G20 priorities set by South Africa and adopted a final communiqué, to which the UAE actively contributed through working group discussions and technical input.
Key topics included global macroeconomic outlooks, the international financial system, infrastructure development, international tax frameworks, and sustainable finance. Special attention was given to challenges facing African economies and the importance of financial inclusion.
H.E. Al Hussaini emphasized the importance of international coordination in addressing global economic challenges and reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to supporting G20 goals and shaping global financial policy.
He highlighted the need for effective policies that promote macroeconomic stability through targeted fiscal support, strong institutions, and efficient labor markets. He also stressed the UAE’s support for emerging markets by mobilizing private capital, strengthening domestic markets, and encouraging structural reforms.
Additionally, he praised global tax progress under the BEPS framework and reiterated the UAE’s support for fair and sustainable tax policies.
Ahead of the main meetings, the UAE also participated in deputies’ sessions from July 14–16, discussing multilateral development banks, pandemic response financing, and growth in Africa.
This marks the UAE’s sixth G20 participation, following past invitations by France (2011), Saudi Arabia (2020), Indonesia (2022), India (2023), and Brazil (2024).
