Suhail Al Mazrouei: UAE’s Leadership Vision Shifts Nation into Global Energy Efficient Model

    May 29, 2025Updated:August 26, 20252 Mins Read

His Excellency Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, affirmed that the vision of the UAE’s wise leadership has been the cornerstone of a transformative shift in the country’s energy and utilities sector.

In his opening remarks at the World Utilities Congress 2025, held in Abu Dhabi, H.E. Al Mazrouei stated that thanks to the directives of its leadership and proactive strategies, the UAE has become a global benchmark in energy production efficiency, utility sustainability, and long-term planning.

He added: “Today, we are witnessing real achievements made possible by our leadership’s forward-looking vision, which began early on by making bold decisions such as pursuing privatization, investing in renewable and nuclear energy, and balancing consumption with efficiency. This foresight has made Abu Dhabi one of the lowest-cost cities in the world for electricity production, and among the most advanced in adopting sustainable solutions.”

H.E. Al Mazrouei emphasized the need for regulatory policies to keep pace with the rapid evolution of the energy sector, especially amid rising global electricity demand due to the expansion of data centers and digital services. He stressed that the challenge is no longer just about production, but about improving consumption efficiency and embracing modern technologies.

He stated: “We need flexible regulations that can adapt to the fast-paced innovation in the energy sector, whether in battery technology or smart grids,” noting that governments must shift from being service providers to enablers by empowering the private sector and leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

H.E. also highlighted that the UAE is not only focused on national development but is committed to sharing its expertise with friendly and allied nations through its leading national companies such as Masdar and TAQA. He underlined that achieving sustainable transformation requires international partnerships and continuous policy evolution.
