Hamdan bin Mohammed Directs Launch of “AI@70” Conference During Dubai AI Week 2026

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation, has directed the organization of a new global conference titled “AI@70” during Dubai AI Week 2026, marking the 70th anniversary of the first introduction of the term “Artificial Intelligence” at the Dartmouth Conference in 1956.

Organized in collaboration with Dartmouth College, the conference will be held under the theme “Towards a Global Humanity,” bringing together leading experts and thinkers in AI, business, technology, philosophy, arts, and sciences. It aims to review the evolution of AI over the past seventy years and map out the opportunities and challenges for the next seventy years.

His Highness emphasized that “Dubai, as a global capital of the future and a hub for cutting-edge technologies, believes in the importance of exchanging ideas, fostering international collaboration, and leveraging AI to drive sustainable development and improve quality of life worldwide.”

The conference will also mark the launch of the “Humanity Lab,” an eight-week program hosted at the Dubai AI Campus in DIFC, designed to integrate art, philosophy, and technology to develop a new generation of AI innovations with a strong human impact.

“AI@70” aims to establish a bold global research agenda, focusing on the most pressing scientific, philosophical, ethical, and social issues shaping the future of AI. It seeks to align advanced technological innovations with deep philosophical thinking to anticipate major global transformations.

The event is organized by the Dubai International Financial Centre in collaboration with APCO Worldwide, with the steering committee comprising representatives from DIFC, global advisors from APCO, and prominent AI experts.
