At the 2025 UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in New York, the UAE underscored the urgency of advancing inclusive global economic growth. The country highlighted its pivotal role in supporting SDG 8—decent work and economic growth—through strategic development initiatives, especially in emerging communities.
The forum, held under the theme “Reinforcing science-based solutions for inclusive, sustainable development”, reflects the UAE’s broader vision: to drive sustainable opportunities, strengthen international cooperation, and champion a growth-driven development model.
In a high-impact roundtable titled “Beyond 2030: Reimagining Economic Growth for People and Planet”, senior UAE officials—including H.E. Abdulla Lootah, H.E. Mohammad Alhawi, and H.E. Mohammed Al Raisi—explored how to reshape global growth. Discussions focused on boosting private-sector investment, closing global skill gaps, and redesigning trade systems for a sustainable future.
The UAE delegation also hosted two key sessions. One examined how economic diplomacy supports SDG 8. The other addressed integrating economic and social development to deliver on SDG 16: peace, justice, and strong institutions.
H.E. Abdulla Lootah emphasized that the UAE’s development model offers a roadmap for future-ready economies. He praised the country’s balanced, inclusive, and sustainable approach, which has made it a global leader in delivering practical solutions aligned with the UN 2030 Agenda and beyond.
Meanwhile, H.E. Mohammed Alhawi stressed that the UAE’s investment strategy focuses on results, opportunity creation, and societal advancement. “The UAE is a land of opportunity,” he said, noting how strategic legislation and innovation-driven policies are shaping a resilient, sustainable economy.
As the UN’s main platform for reviewing progress on the SDGs, the forum reviewed five key goals, including SDG 3 (health), SDG 5 (gender equality), SDG 8 (economic growth), SDG 14 (marine life), and SDG 17 (global partnerships).
