The Authority of Social Contributions Ma’an has allocated AED 8.2 million to support eight sustainable community projects focused on the environment and infrastructure in 2024. The projects are implemented in collaboration with seven local partners as part of Ma’an’s efforts to enhance quality of life and generate long-term social and environmental impact.
The first project involves developing community gardens in Liwa, with over AED 4 million allocated to build green spaces in Jurmda and Atab districts. These gardens aim to improve the local environment and provide recreational and social areas for residents.
The second project will see the creation of pedestrian walkways and colorful artistic facilities in Rabdan and Al Maamoura in Abu Dhabi. With AED 2.6 million allocated, the initiative involves collaborating with local artists to add cultural and aesthetic value to public spaces and enhance the urban landscape.
A third project focuses on rehabilitating sports fields in Ain Al Faydah and Jebel Hafeet residential areas, with approximately AED 687,000 allocated to enhance sports infrastructure and promote recreational opportunities for residents.
Another key initiative is an awareness program on sustainable agriculture and organic waste recycling. With a budget of AED 446,000, the program includes hands-on workshops teaching residents how to compost food waste and grow fruits and vegetables at home, particularly in Al Falah.
In support of environmental conservation, Ma’an allocated AED 300,000 for volunteer-driven cleanup campaigns across Abu Dhabi’s natural spaces, targeting beaches, deserts, and parks while raising environmental awareness.
A notable initiative is the “Delivery Riders’ Rest Area” project, with AED 106,000 dedicated to providing comfortable and safe rest zones for delivery bike riders. These spaces will be equipped with air conditioning, charging stations, and water coolers.
Ma’an also funded the “Planting for the UAE” initiative with AED 16,000 to support mangrove tree planting, which is vital for preserving marine ecosystems and mitigating the effects of climate change.
Finally, AED 15,000 was allocated to a community engagement initiative aimed at encouraging public participation in environmental events, promoting sustainability awareness, and connecting people with experts and local green initiatives.
These projects reflect Ma’an’s commitment to directing resources toward impactful and sustainable initiatives that directly benefit Abu Dhabi’s community and environment.
