Emirates SkyCargo has announced the expansion of its fleet with the addition of hydrogen-powered trucks, in collaboration with Al Ittihad Transport Company. The new trucks are set to begin operations in the first quarter of 2026, as part of the company’s ongoing efforts to adopt more sustainable transportation solutions.
The current fleet comprises over 60 trucks that operate between Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport, in addition to various other locations across the UAE. Five hydrogen-powered trucks will be introduced in the first phase, aimed at reducing carbon emissions and improving air quality, without compromising operational efficiency.
The new trucks maintain the same load capacity as their diesel counterparts, with each capable of transporting up to 28 tons of cargo. They will be refueled at two dedicated hydrogen stations in Dubai—one located in Expo City and the other at DEWA’s Al Qudra station—each providing a range of up to 700 kilometers per full tank.
Badr Abbas, Senior Vice President of Emirates SkyCargo, stated that incorporating hydrogen-powered trucks marks a major milestone in the airline’s strategy to reduce ground operations emissions. He emphasized the company’s commitment to exploring alternative fuels and innovative technologies while maintaining high service standards.
Ali bin Bayat, CEO of Al Ittihad Transport, noted that the decision to adopt hydrogen trucks is the result of extensive research and reflects a shared commitment to delivering environmentally friendly transport solutions. He added that the initiative supports a cleaner, more sustainable logistics future across the UAE, particularly in Dubai.
