In an episode of the Money Secrets podcast, hosted by Ahmed Elgamal in collaboration with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Dubai’s Deputy Chief of Police and General Security, offered a sharp perspective on what keeps a nation truly secure.
“Without knowledge, you can’t protect or progress,” he said. For Khalfan, learning isn’t just a cultural value – it’s a strategic necessity. In today’s fast-moving world, he believes informed citizens and decision-makers are key to staying one step ahead of threats.
He also highlighted how Dubai is using artificial intelligence to transform public safety. Smart cameras now do more than record—they interpret facial expressions, track unusual behaviour, and even flag potential threats before anything happens. “AI sharpens our instincts,” he noted. “It helps us act faster and smarter.”
But technology alone isn’t enough. Khalfan spoke frankly about the role of parents and education. “If we want our children to read, we need to lead by example,” he said. His message was simple: the future depends on how we raise minds and apply tools.
