In a recent Money Secrets podcast with economic content creator Ahmed Elgamal, Fouad Darwish, CEO and Managing Director of Palms Sports, emphasized that continuous learning, whether from success or failure, is the key to adapting in a fast-changing world.
“ I am an economist by degree, I’m not a sportsperson and held a leadership role for ten years, and was previously a banker,” he said. “But I still learn something new every day. Knowledge today is free and widely available online, from models and terminology to case studies and inspirational stories.”
Darwish stressed that failure should not be hidden or feared. “We treat failure as a chance to understand our mistakes and grow. There’s no success without setbacks. The difference lies in your willingness to evolve.”
He also praised his company’s board of directors for fostering a supportive and empowering environment. “Our team was given space to innovate, even when things didn’t go as planned, which strengthened our creativity.”
He concluded with a powerful analogy: “In a competition, if I make a mistake, I can’t pause and start over. Life keeps going on. You have to keep moving and learning.”
