    UAE’s Saeed Al Tayer, Austrian Minister Discuss Renewable Energy Cooperation

    H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), welcomed H.E. Wolfgang Hattmansdorfer, Austria’s Federal Minister of Economy, Energy, and Tourism, along with H.E. Etienne Berchtold, Austrian Ambassador to the UAE.

    The meeting was attended by DEWA officials, including Eng. Waleed Bin Salman, Dr. Yousif Al Akraf, and Eng. Marwan Bin Haidar. Discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in renewable energy, sustainability, and climate action, in line with the UAE’s vision for a green economy.

    Both sides emphasized the importance of knowledge exchange and collaboration in environmental technologies and innovation to address global climate challenges.

    Al Tayer highlighted Dubai’s clean energy strategies and key projects like the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which will help reduce carbon emissions by 8 million tonnes annually. He also emphasized DEWA’s adoption of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies and AI.

    He showcased “Al Sheraa,” DEWA’s new headquarters, which is set to be the world’s largest and smartest government Net Zero Energy Building.

    Minister Hattmansdorfer affirmed Austria’s strong interest in strengthening ties with the UAE, particularly in renewable energy. He praised the UAE as a key strategic partner and highlighted the shared leadership of both nations in this vital sector, with plans for concrete joint projects.
