Dubai- At the Middle East Energy exhibition, experts and industry leaders highlighted the accelerating impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the future of the energy sector, showcasing smart applications in network management, behavioral analytics, and long-term strategic planning.
Held under the patronage of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the event brought together over 150 professionals across 18 international pavilions at the Dubai World Trade Centre, discussing innovations in battery technologies, utility efficiency, and operational safety.
Engineer Faisal Rashid, Senior Director of Demand Side Management at the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, presented Dubai’s journey toward climate neutrality, noting that over 54,000 buildings now comply with green building codes, with more than 15,000 structures retrofitted for improved energy performance. He also highlighted the growth in electric vehicle adoption, rising from 500 in 2015 to 72,000 currently.
Rashid emphasized the UAE’s commitment to reducing electricity, water, and fuel consumption by 50% by 2050, with strategic reviews every five years to ensure continuous progress.
In a related session, Mike Ballard, VP of Industry Strategy & Innovation at Oracle Energy and Water, discussed AI’s growing role in enhancing safety, predicting outages, and reshaping consumer behavior. He illustrated how AI can save lives by detecting tree collisions with power lines and triggering early interventions, preventing fires and system failures.
Speakers concluded that AI is now a key enabler of sustainable energy transformation, offering smarter, safer ways to manage infrastructure and resources.
