In a new episode of the “Money Secrets” podcast, economic content creator Ahmed Elgamal hosted Abdullah Salem Al Nuaimi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, for an in-depth discussion on investing and trading in financial markets, coinciding with the conclusion of the “MIRA” Investor Relations Conference.
The episode addressed widespread misconceptions about investing, particularly the pursuit of quick profits through daily trading, which Al Nuaimi described as the riskiest approach. He emphasized that real investment is a long-term journey and likened it to farming: “You prepare the soil, plant the seeds, and wait for the harvest.” He also highlighted the importance of understanding market tools, distinguishing between investing and speculating, managing risk, and avoiding emotional decisions.
The conversation also covered modern investment tools such as Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs), which offer investors diversified portfolios without the need for daily monitoring. Al Nuaimi noted that Abu Dhabi’s market currently offers 15 ETFs covering both local and global markets, including some that are Sharia-compliant.
Al Nuaimi stressed the importance of financial literacy, especially among youth and students, stating that financial awareness is the foundation of sound investment decisions. He also warned against misleading advertisements on social media, saying: “Wealth is built over time, not through instant illusions.”
This episode aims to raise public awareness about responsible investing, as opportunities continue to grow in the UAE market in 2025.
