After a journey spanning more than half a century, the UAE returns prominently to Japan, marking its remarkable participation in Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai, following its first appearance in 1970.
Under the theme “From Earth to Ether,” the UAE National Pavilion opened its doors to share with the world the narrative of a nation that has transcended the boundaries of dreams and transformed them into tangible realities—a powerful story that weaves together a rich heritage with ambitious space exploration goals, unwavering commitment to sustainability, and future-oriented healthcare.
Located in the “Improving Lives” district, the UAE Pavilion offers visitors a unique sensory experience, guiding them through three inspiring sections titled “Dreamers Who Do,” where Emirati and global success stories come alive. Here, the journeys of outstanding Emirati figures and international scientists who have made significant impacts across vital sectors are showcased. From space explorers to healthcare pioneers and sustainability leaders, these individuals draw inspiration from their heritage to serve the future and make meaningful differences.
In the “Dreamers Who Do – Sustainable Technology” section, prominent figures shine, including H.E. Dr. Nawal Al-Hosany, UAE Permanent Representative to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), alongside environmental innovators like Yousef Bin Saeed Al Lootah, founder and CEO of Lootah Biofuels, and Mariam Al Mazrouei, a renewable energy engineer at Masdar. This area also honors global pioneers in AI and hybrid energy technologies, such as the innovative duo Mariam Hosny and Hayk Vardanyan, co-founders of HydroWind Energy, along with Martin Takáč and Samuel Horváth, professors of machine learning at Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence.
The “Healthcare” section highlights the UAE’s role in advancing pioneering medical solutions through influential personalities like Dr. Fatima Al Kaabi, Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Bone Marrow Transplant Program at Abu Dhabi Stem Cells Center, Ali Al Loghani, founder of the “Doctor Robot” initiative, and Dr. Habiba Al Safar, Professor and Dean at Khalifa University’s College of Medicine and Health Sciences, alongside international researchers in bioengineering and biology such as Ken-Ichiro, Associate Professor at New York University.
Finally, the “Dreamers Who Do – Space Exploration” section features Emirati astronaut H.E. Dr. Sultan Al Neyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, accompanied by ambitious young Emirati leaders in astronomy and space, including Mohsen Al Awadhi, Director of Space Missions at the UAE Space Agency; Nora Al Matrooshi, astronaut in the UAE Astronaut Program at Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre; and Moza Al Maalla, PhD candidate in Astronomy and Astrophysics at Harvard University. Visitors have the unique opportunity to explore the success stories of these dreamers who elevated their nation’s aspirations towards the stars.
